Presidents Statement
Welcome to the website for the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour. There often is confusion between the 4 Coffs Clubs: Coffs Harbour (us), Coffs Harbour City, Coffs Harbour South and Coffs Harbour Daybreak.
Our Club was chartered in 1949 and has since continued unbroken. Membership numbers are in the high 60’s. The membership is a great mix of very experienced in Rotary and in life to the newer members ready to tackle the goals of Rotary in general and the Club goals in particular.
The Club has a history of tackling long term projects such as the establishment and development of the PCYC and the Shearwater hospice, both of which are now self funding in their operation and the Coffs Harbour Men’s Shed. The next major project in the planning is a Driver Education Facility to provide basic driver education and training in a secure environment.
Other projects include support for local youth radio (CHYFM), Bowel Cancer scan program and an active sister club arrangement with the Sasebo Club in Japan
The Club has been a long term participant in the Youth Exchange program including additional exchanges with Sasebo. There are other club activities such as midnight basketball, public speaking and MUNA.
Major fun raisers have been the annual Duck Race, Xmas sleigh raffle, Bowling Club Calcutta plus this year, the Half Marathon and part catering for the International Rally in September.
We meet every Wednesday night at the Coffs Harbour Surf Club which is an idyllic location particularly as we have the establishment to ourselves at that time.
